Morning after breakfast at 09:00 AM drive to Mandu, Arrival Mandu, start with Delhi Darwaza, than the Jahaz Mahal which looks like a ship that’s about to sail. However, for centuries this ship made of stone and mortar never did. Instead, it stood floating over the twin lakes, bearing a silent witness to Mandu's long, rich and varied history.
The city of Mandu is adorned with spell-binding Afghan architecture surrounded by baobab trees, native to Africa. Visit Hoshang Shah’s Tomb, Jami Masjid and Rupmati’s Pavilion. Transfer to Hotel and Night stay.
Madagascar to Mandu: “Mysterious Mandu: the land of Afghan architecture and baobab trees”“The city of Mandu is adorned with spell-binding Afghan architecture surrounded by baobab trees, native to Africa. Baobabs are often called the Tree of Life. Native to Madagascar, some parts of mainland, sub-Saharan Africa and Australia, the baobab is known for not just its towering height (up to 98 ft), but also girth (up to 36 ft) and life span (3,000 years). The rather succulent trunk is said to hold as much as 100,000 litres of water — perfect to soak up Mandu’s generous monsoon bounty — while its flowers bloom only at night. Their otherwise mild fragrance intensifies when it mingles with the aroma of wet earth.
When cracked open, Mandu ki imli — the elongated baobab fruit — is a cluster of white pulp-coated seeds that resemble giant custard apple segments. The powdered seeds and the dried pulp are mixed with chilled water to make a tangy, vitamin C-rich drink that I relish at a hawker stall after a sweltering trek up Baz Bahadur’s palace.

They are notable for the ancient monumental relief sculpture of Vishnu in his incarnation as the man-boar Varaha, rescuing the earth symbolically represented by Bhudevi clinging to the boar's tusk as described in Hindu mythology. The site has important inscriptions of the Gupta dynasty belonging to the reigns of Chandragupta II (c. 375-415) and Kumaragupta I (c. 415-55). In addition to these, Udayagiri has a series of rock-shelters and petroglyphs, ruined buildings, inscriptions, water systems, fortifications and habitation mounds, all of which remain a subject of continuing archaeological studies. The Udayagiri Caves complex consists of twenty caves, of which one is dedicated to Jainism and all others to Hinduism. The calm Narmada throws in a beautiful surprise as she descends a massive 98 ft. creating the spectacular Dhuandhar falls. While nature flaunts its beauty, the magnificent Chaunsath Yogini Temple, dedicated to the goddess Durga, will take you back in time with its inimitable artistry.
The beautiful sights of Bhedaghat will definitely put a smile on your face, bringing alive the child in you.
Bheda Ghat is situated approximately 25 kms away from the city center. Clean, transparent and calm water of the Narmada bounded by the attractive rocks of soft marble, are enchanting. It is believed that in the ancient times, a great saint Bhrigu Muni had meditated here, that is why, the name was Bhrigu Ghat. Later, with the passage of time which has now changed to Bhedaghat.

Bhedaghat is the site from where we can do the boatride in Narmada river and can see the natural marble rocks and do its photography. Dhuandhar is a small water fall where river water cascades down and generates water-fog. It is a photogenic point. Third important place to visit is Chousat Yogini temple, located in hill-top where we can see significantly carved Yogini statues of 10th century. It is popular as a venue for Narmada Mahotsava organized on full-moon night in Sharad Purnima festival.
